Insiders with PCs already in the Dev Channel have been installing and giving feedback on builds with Windows 11 features since last year. All Windows Insiders who have already been installing builds from the Dev Channel on their PCs up through Jwill be allowed to continue installing Windows 11 Insider Preview builds even if their PC does not meet the minimum hardware requirements. While we recommend that all PCs meet the full hardware requirements for Windows 11, we are allowing some limited exceptions as we apply these new restrictions. The problem is convincing people to donate and/or contribute to ReactOS (they currently only have one full-time developer) If finished, ReactOS would be the best of both worlds by being open-source software while maintaining the ease-of-use and intuitiveness that Windows has. But if it were, it would be perfect, an OS as lightweight as Windows 2000 while still being modern. The problem with ReactOS is it just isn't finished. For power users like myself it is a great solution though. Having to search through help forums and use the command prompt for menial tasks that would be point-and-click in Windows is not an option at all for many users. However Linux has many problems with being a desktop OS especially for people used to Windows. There are also many Linux distributions that can run on anything from a 1995 laptop to the latest battlestation build. The third option may be the most appealing for most, considering there's no telling if Microsoft will do something similar with Windows 12, 13, etc leading to massive costs in computer hardware that's completely overkill for something say, like a school computer or a workstation that just has to run Excel and a web browser. Stick with Windows 10/8/7 and rely on a third-party solution for security patchesīuy all-new PCs for Windows 11 (may be too costly and huge impact on environment) With Windows 11 banning everything but almost-new CPUS, People will have 3 options:
